![]() The days of needing a couple of huge amps in your trunk are over. Going to get a higher-powered AGM battery soon and hopefully that will fix it, though it seems pretty clear that was the problem.Delivers dependable power to your whole system with style The battery was also fairly new but it was a stock battery, which I guess isn't quite powerful enough for my system. The alternator was picking up the slack when the car was on, so I didn't notice at first. ![]() I checked the voltage when the car was off and it was at 11.6. So it might be an issue with the speakers?įinal Update: It was my battery. I also tried running just the sub, and it kept going. The rest of the speakers kept cutting out just like before. I also disconnected the sub and that didn't solve it either. I tried connecting the amp to another source and it was doing the exact same thing, cutting out at higher volumes. Update 2: It's not the stereo or the sub. The wiring looks okay too but I will inspect it some more right now. To top it off, I listened to music with the trunk open and it didn't help any. Checked the amp, has the same amount of ventilation it always had, it's currently not hot in my area and I can touch it without it burning. The cutting out is happening almost immediately now instead of after 15 to 20 minutes. If it does turn out to be the wiring or gains, I will update my post. I originally tried it myself, but my current car was too complicated and I couldn't figure it out, so I took it to AudioExpress.Īny help is appreciated. I got the system installed by AudioExpress. The amp powers all four speakers and the sub. X4 Rockford Fosgate R165X3 6.5-in speakers If it helps, here is what my sound system comprises of: I also saw that adjusting the gains may help too, so I will try that too when I get home. ![]() I will check the wiring when I get home, but I'm not too sure this is the issue since I haven't encountered anything like this in nearly one year of ownership. I did find instances of amps cutting out at high volume (above 50 percent) and most of the responses people gave was that it was caused by a short and that the wiring should be cleaned up. Like I mentioned before, I couldn't find a situation similar to mine online. I was hoping someone would have some insight. I listened to it at 50 to 60 percent volume almost daily since I got it. I have also had my current audio system for about a year without any issues until now. It's a very strange issue that I have not encountered before. After about another 15 to 20 minutes though, I can raise the volume again and everything is back to normal for about another 15 to 20 minutes until it cuts out again. However, it will cut out again if I attempt to raise the volume. When I turn down the volume to about 35 to 40 percent, the sound returns to normal. The sound doesn't completely cut out, it seems more like it gets very low and starts cracking a lot. My amplifier will suddenly cut out after listening to the sound system for about 15 to 20 minutes at 50 to 60 percent volume. I tried looking this issue up online and in this group, but I haven't found a situation quite like the one I am experiencing. r/electricvehicles - For electric vehicles r/diyaudio - Audio Projects & talk For the DIY'er r/soundsystem - PA's, Concert Rigs, Road Gear r/hometheater - For the HomeTheater lovers r/audiophile - Strictly High Fidelity discussion r/CarAVvendors - CarAV vendor info/deals r/CarAVclassifieds - CarAV's trading hub Please remember to restrict product promotion posts to 10% or less of your total combined self and link posts as per reddit spam guidelines.
